FAQ – Solar for Hot Water

Question mark

Is my roof strong enough to hold the weight of a Roof-Mounted system?

  • Generally yes. The roofs of most homes will easily support the weight of a roof mounted system. We will however inspect your roof at the time of quotation to ensure there will not be an issue.

 What about hailstorms?

  • Edwards solar hot water panels are made using toughened glass that can withstand most hail storms. In the unlikely event of damage your household insurance should cover replacement costs. Please check with your insurer for coverage.

Will I need to use my Booster?

  • Yes, during the winter months and in periods of cloudy weather you will need to switch the booster on. How often you need to use the booster will vary from household to household as not all homes use the same amount of hot water. It is not recommended that you leave the booster on continuously as this will consume more power than is necessary.

Does my Edwards solar hot water system need regular servicing by specialists?

  • No, your on-roof solar system is constructed of long life stainless steel and is virtually maintenance free.

What should I do if I notice a problem with my system?

  • Please contact us as soon as possible so we can discuss the problem and if necessary send a technician to rectify the problem.
